Green Day - founded in 1987 in Ouklende (California), a punk rock band.

Green Day is part of the California punk rock scene. Childhood friends Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar, vocals) and Mike Dirnt (bass, real name Mike Pritchard) formed their first band, Sweet Children, in Rodeo, California. California, when they were 14 years old. In 1989, the group was invited by drummer Al Sobrante (Al Sobrante, real name John Alan Kiffmeyer) and they changed their name to Green Day (in honor of one of their songs).
