The childhood and youth

Robert Cimmerman was born on May, 24th, 1941 in small town Duluth (State of Minnesota), in a family of the small trader. Parents of the musician actively participated in life of a local Jewish community. Its ancestors have arrived to America from the Eastern Europe and the Black Sea coast of Turkey (through Odessa). In the autobiography of Dilan mentions even any Kirghiz roots.

In 1947 Robert's father was ill with a poliomyelitis, and the family has moved to the next city of Hibbing. Robert in the childhood listened to music programs c records of blueses much. Especially it was impressed with Henka Williams's folk music and Vudi Gatri (which it looked after in hospital during its deadly illness). It masters game elements on a guitar, the harmonica becomes its favourite tool. At the age of ten years he has written the first verses.

Studying at high school, the Bean acts as a part of the various collectives executing a folk music in cafe and bars. It continues musical employment and after receipt in University of Minneapolis (1959). Dilan it used some pseudonyms. The basic pseudonym which has become world-famous, the musician has made a name of favourite poet Dilana Thomas.

Folk music

After a trip to Denver Dilan has resolved to become the professional musician. In January, 1961 it comes to New York. Quickly enough his name becomes popular to Greenwich-Villidzh. The debut album which has left in February, 1962 «Bob Dylan» consisted basically from songs classical folk and blues-repertoire.
